Zicabangeleni Self Help Association for the Physically Disabled empowers people living with disabilities in Katlehong with skills, work and dignity — through training, a protective workshop and real income.
ZISHAP is a Non-Profit Organisation formed to address the critical need for comprehensive support services for people living with disabilities in Katlehong, under the City of Ekurhuleni. We provide education and training that empowers members with business skills — so they can start their own businesses or find employment in the mainstream economy.
From our protective workshop to daily meals, every programme is designed to build independence and generate income for our members.

Members are trained to manufacture wooden furniture, sold to the community and local stores to generate income for people living with disabilities.
Affordable wheelchair repair for members and the wider community — and free of charge for those who cannot afford to pay.
Training on sewing machines to produce clothing and school uniforms, sold to local community schools at a reasonable fee.
Handmade beaded animals, trees, baskets and keyrings — colourful craftwork made and sold by our members.
Hand-knitted scarves, beanies and blankets produced in the workshop for sale to the community.
Warm quilted blankets and linen, hand-finished by members as part of the workshop's textile production.
Computer skills training for people living with disabilities, plus free internet access for our students.
Breakfast and lunch provided daily to members, and affordable car-parking rental for the community that raises funds for the organisation.
Our aim is to foster full participation and inclusion of persons living with disabilities in every part of society — especially the economy — by breaking down the barriers that exclude them and promoting a human-rights-based approach to development.
To empower persons living with disabilities to achieve self-reliance and become contributing members of society through high-quality vocational training, skills training and support services.
To create progressive initiatives that make disabled persons economic drivers in society — and to be the leading self-funding, job-creating organisation of people with disabilities in South Africa.
ZISHAP is governed by a board of six members who volunteer their time to guide the organisation.
